The Melodians - Brent Dowe, Trevor McNaughton and Tony Brevett - achieved some success as a rock steady vocal group in the Sixties, but they are best remembered today for the mellow reggae sounds they recorded after meeting with producer Leslie Kong in 1969. Their best-known song by a long way is the Psalm-inspired Rivers of Babylon, but their other releases on Island Records are well worth a listen.
