The people who make
M&M candy had a contest in the summer of '00. They made one bag of their chocolate candies with a slip that said "
Prize of one million dollars " (US).
Unlike Willy Wonka, this did not have a cute ending. A man serving time in a prison in Utah won the prize. He got the candy from a prison guard (it was a reward for good behavior). No word yet whether M&M-Mars, the company or the State of Utah, Dept. of Corrections, will allow this.

Mars announced that the man in prison had won candy only - they say a cute retired couple won the big prize.
What a relief.
