An outdoor modern art installation in the desert in
southwestern New Mexico. Constructed in 1977 by
Walter De Maria. It's a 1-mile by 1-kilometer
rectangular grid array of 400 stainless steel poles
that are meant to attract lightning. Visitors
to this installation arrive in the afternoon and
spend the night in a cabin that has a nice view
of the show. Some nights there is a lot of lightning,
and other nights there's nothing. You take your chances.
