A popular term for Maryland, well known because every can of Natty Boh includes the words "From the Land of Pleasant Living" on it. In fact, by all accounts I can find, the phrase originates with the (late, lamented) National Brewing Company. One version has it being invented in 1935 by Arthur Deute, when he bought the company, while another has it occurring in the 1950's as part of a marketing campaign. In either case, nowadays it is a quite common term (searching on Google, looking for information about the origin, I got over 1500 hits), and seems to even have been stolen by some Virginia counties!
