Daily broadsheet newspaper published in Dublin by Independent Newspapers. The Independent (fondly known as "The Indo") is the paper with the widest circulation in the country. It was founded in the early part of the twentieth century by the notorious William Martin Murphy, the man behind the 1913 lockout. Its current owner is ex-Heinz CEO Anthony J.F. O'Reilly, whose group also control newspapers in the UK (The Independent), South Africa and Australia.

As it is the most popular paper, it would be scurrilous of me to question the quality of its journalism, but I don't think anybody will deny that it is as badly-printed a newspaper as you're likely to come across.
