Horace Riddler, 1892-1969
In 1927 Horace Ridler had his entire body tattooed with stripes. In addition, he had his teeth filed, and his ears and septum pierced and stretched.... and became The Great Omi. He was extremely successful until he retired in 1950, and lived in a small village in Sussex until he died in 1969. Up until very recently, Omi was probably the best known tattooed man in the West, and served as an inspiration for a huge number of people, both inside and outside the sideshow community.
