A collection of letters that J.R.R. Tolkien wrote for his children. These letters, written in spidery handwriting and with color drawings, were supposedly from Father Christmas at the North Pole. Originally these letters were just meant for Tolkien's children (just as The Hobbit also came out of stories he wrote for his children) but they have been since collected together and published.

The letters describe life at the North Pole, from problems with getting the packages out on time, to battles with troublesome goblins (as a child I always like those stories the best), to the adventures of the accident-prone Polar Bear who was great for comic relief.
