Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Johnson City, TN, this almost-legendary musical venue specializes in Blue Grass, but also hosts blues bands, folk artists, and even a bit of poetry.

Founded in 1976 and self-billed as "The Eclectic Music Room", they have hosted luminaries like Doc Watson, Allison Kraus, Chris Smither, Townes van Zandt, Tony Rice, Taj Mahal and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

Needless to say, this is the best place we got in this town. People come to hear the music, not to chit chat over a catchy beat. With a maximum seating of 150, this is a great place to catch great acts before they get gobbled up into the mainstream.

They serve pretty fair Mexican food and pretty pricy beer, but the cover is usually reasonable. The only thing is that they have a no smoking policy during the performances.
