The old style, or Wade-Giles, romanization for the Mandarin pronunciation of Deng Xiaoping's name--and also a handy demonstration of the differences between the two methods. In both cases, it should be pronounced "dung sheow ping," to rhyme with "rung meow ring" (with the appropriate tones, of course). Since decent textbooks and news organizations should all be using the Pinyin method now, you may read about Mr. Deng there.
