Hiss, on
their own label. They strut an
Americanized, rhythmic,
lo-fi sound that might be compared to saner parts of
The Fall or
Earl Brutus; but with a unique extra
brand of
weirdness thrown in. Nice lyrics:
The man in the fire has smoking eyes
They burn right through to the center of your soul
Like glowing coals in two black holes

I like 'em. So does John Peel; all-time classic The Claw shared space up near the top in the Festive Fifty of 1998 with people like The Delgados and Bis.
