Polish general and politician. Born 1895, died 1966.
From 1943 to 1944, Komorowski was commander-in-chief of the Polish resistance army, Armia Krajowa. In July 1944, he took responsibility for the military decision to undertake an armed uprising in Warsaw against the German occupation - an uprising which turned into a bloody fiasco. Later that year, Komorowski was captured and imprisoned by the Germans.
After the war, with Poland occupied by the Soviet Union, he lived in London, working as an active member of the Polish government in exile, and serving as Prime Minister in exile from 1947 to 1949.
