A local chain of independent record store founded in 1971 in St. Louis, MO. They not only offer better prices than larger chains (with the possible exception of Best Buy), but allow you to listen to any album in stock, have a friendly and helpful staff and tend to stock a good selection of used and non-mainstream music along with heavy promotion of the local music scene. They have the sense to allow the stores to basically stay independent such that people who didn't know about other locations assumed it was merely a local store. The sort of place that you think it would be fun to work at even if it really wouldn't be.

The Manhattan, KS location closed in the summer of '01 thus depriving the town of a reasonably priced outlet for music, currently they have the following locations:
