Stephen A. Smith (1967- ), often known simply as "Stephen A." is an African-American sports journalist and media personality. Smith has built a long career out of his bombastic yet articulate approach to discussing sports, particularly (although not limited to) basketball.
In recent years, Smith has developed a following as the most frequent debating partner for Skip Bayless on the ESPN morning debate show ESPN First Take.
Born in Queens, New York, Smith is a lifelong fan of the New York Knicks.
