Spo

Student Post Office at Macalester College. Formerly located in the basement of Kirk Hall, recently relocated to the new Campus Center.

The neat thing about the SPO is that the word "SPO" can function in several different ways:

• First, in reference to the Post Office itself (e.g. "I'm going to go to the SPO.")
• In reference to the individual Post Office box of a given student (e.g. "I'm going to check my SPO.")
• As a verb, to refer to the action of sending intracampus mail through the SPO (e.g. "I'll SPO the letter to you.")

While Macalester College has several other unique terms for locations on campus, (The Fishbowl, The Link, 10k...), "SPO" is a popular favorite due to its versatility and generally funny sound.
