A plateau at altitude 7925m, 26,000 feet. This is where the Southeast Ridge begins, which in turn leads to the summit of Mount Everest. This is a place where climbers sometimes have to spend several days and nights in their tents, waiting and praying for better weather. This is definitely the death zone, where the lack of oxygen in the air will break your body down inevitably.

Also called "the world's highest junkyard" because of all the junk previous expeditions have left there. In the year 2000, several oxygen bottles from the first ascent in 1953 were found among all other trash.
