US models include the 12,16,26 and
XBR lines. It's written Wega in all the articles I've seen as well as on
Sony's own site and marketing materials (the logo is more like one 'V' with another faded 'V' to its right) but pronounced '
Vega'

These sets are the best consumer direct view screens that money can buy, and they sure do cost a pretty penny. The basic 13" goes for $280 while the top of the line XBR 36" goes for $2500. For comparison an el cheapo 13" can be found for about $70 and a 36" for $600, but you don't get the flat tube, designer case and other features. It seems that Sony's monopoly on the flat tube market is going away as Philips and Panasonic come out with their own designs which should drive prices down to a more reasonable level.
