Disney part-animation/part live-action movie, based on Joel Chandler Harris's collections of Uncle Remus stories. It's the source of the song "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah," which is about the only clip from it that Disney will allow to be shown in the U.S.; the movie has not been released on video or rereleased to theaters because of concerns about its portrayal of the black narrator Uncle Remus being offensive to modern watchers. However, this hasn't stopped Disney from basing the Splash Mountain ride on the animated part of the movie, or offering picture books of the stories (with the Southern dialect somewhat toned down) with illustrations of the animated animal characters.

Koreykruse offered a way for American viewers to see the whole thing for themselves: "I purchased a copy of this video in PAL format from a website located in England. I had a video store make me a regular VHS tape from it. All for about $35."
