The Mark Twain of Alternative Rock

Guitarist Slim Dunlap joined The Replacements in 1987, when Bob Stinson and the band parted ways before the Pleased to Meet Me tour. Slim contributed on the Don't Tell a Soul (1989), and the All Shook Down (1990) albums and stayed with the 'mats until the breakup in 1991.

Born August 14, 1951, this soulful guitarist and song writer with curly dark hair and furrowed brow lays down some sweet riffs. His weathered voice warbles out spirited lyrics full of humor, potent anguish and an ecstatic passion for music.

Slim still plays local venues in Minneapolis and St. Paul with regular visits to the Turf Club on University and Snelling Aves. He often invites audience members on stage to have a go at the guitar for a spell during the show. Friend and musician Paul Westerberg sometimes makes a showing at the Turf Club for Slims' shows. Certainly a great live music venue not to be missed.

Solo Albums released by Slim

  • The Old New Me (1993)
  • Times Like This (1996) received enthusiastic acclaim for this one.

Slim has also backed Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and played in Curtis-A.
