A
state park near
Sedona where melted snow feeds a very cold creek, a fun place to visit for a
day trip.
The current in the creek is suprisingly strong, and the bottom is composed of smooth,
algae-slicked rock. The
attraction of the place is that you can wade out to the middle of the creek and let the current carry you
downstream, as long as you don't mind occasionally getting sucked underwater. In some places there are small
waterfalls, which its generally a good idea to
circumnavigate as you can't always see what's beneath you.
There is a portion of Slide Rock known as
Grasshopper Point where people
cliff dive into a deeper part of the creek.
