Skirting also applies to cloth edges. Beds, tables, chairs, stages, can all have skirting applied.

A bed skirt, for instance, is usually placed over the box spring, thus covering everything from the top of the box spring to the floor.

These ornaments were very popular with the Victorians, who took pains to cover the "limbs" of chairs and tables.
