Singout! Magazine was a mid-20th century music magazine, featuring in a "Folk Process" column mainly new folk songs (at that time) by such artists as Malvina Reynolds, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, and Woody Guthrie.

This was a brave endeavor in the 1950's with the fear of communism taken to an overly paranoid degree (his friends in the Weavers were blacklisted, and Seeger was almost arrested.

Songwriters involved with this journal created, because of conflicts concerning commercial compromises, Broadside Magazine which had the venue that was the reason Dylan changed from writing just nostalgic pieces, to those pertaining to social issues of the time, racism, individual freedom, and and war. His first song ever written was "Talking John Birch Blues," and also written at this time was "Only a Hobo." Most are more familiar with this style: Blowing in the Wind," and "Masters of War," and know his other genre songs like "Lay Lady Lay," and "Just Like a Woman."
