Population of about 107,000. Also known as the armpit of Ventura Country. Right next to LA County, kind of in the corner (hence armpit). Roughly 25% of the LAPD lives in Simi Valley, or so I'm told. That's why it's ranked either the 1st&or 2nd safest city of it's size in the US (and right next to LA, isn't that nice). In the old days, Simi was the closest nice place to Hollywood where they could shoot footage for Westerns like "Fistfull of Dollars".

In addition to being the safest city in the country, Simi Valley has also had a history with the FBI...as having one of the highest incest rates of any city over 100,000 people.

The city is probably best known for the role it played during the Rodney King Trial of 1992, which sparked the LA Riots upon the aquittal of the 4 LAPD officers involved.

The name of the city means "valley of the wind" and is a derivative of the Chumash Indian word for wind, because the Santa Ana winds tear through the sloping valley with menacing force.
