Rare gemstone, opaque with fiberlike inclusions (hence its alternate name fibrolite). The most sought-after type is blue sillimanite, which is only found in Myanmar; green and gray sillimanite is found in Sri Lanka. (All other sources do not produce gem-grade material.)
