puffing from one on a
cigarette break while burning a hole into the sky,

clutching them all to her bosom and looking back
at the sea, cynical as ever now,

a lonesome stare punctuated by the wrinkles of abandonment,
and walked away, footsteps disappearing slowly off the sand
