Born in 1942 in Tokyo, Grand Master Seiichi Tanaka is the man who brought taiko to the United States. He established the first taiko school in the U.S. in 1968, the San Francisco Taiko Dojo. Studied Osuwa Taiko with Grand Master Daihachi Oguchi of the Suwa Taiko and Gojinjo Taiko Grand Master Shosaku Ideka. He has also studied yokobue, hogaku, and martial arts. He's the official U.S. representative of the school of Sukeroku Daiko.
