A Summary

"Scary Monsters" is David Bowie at his last peak.
After the amazing whirlpool that was the 70's for Bowie, he finally had to do something to bring an end to the decade.
This is a different Bowie from the current one who just released "Heathen", Bowie at the start of the 80's was trying to get rid of the past, not look back.
The point at which he brings this focus clearest is the song "Ashes to Ashes", which is to bring an end to the unfourtunate Major Tom from "Space Oddity", Bowie's first big hit. In "Ashes to Ashes" he tell us that Major Tom was a junkie, who violently came down from his high and is now dead, I would guess. This is in reaction to the idea that Major Tom was some sort of British hero, which was the British presses concotion of "Space Oddity".
Bowie also brings in the new sorts of rockers, the New Romantics and the New Wavers, calling them "the same old thing in brand new drag" in "Teenage Wildlife", and in the whole song "Fashion", in which he lampoons the people who devote their live's to fashion and disco dancing, ect.
On a whole "Scary Monsters" is a great Bowie album, it really is the clmax of his 70's music, and it has all the sounds of the 70's (after "Diamond Dogs") in a perfect sound. "Scary Monsters" is the best Bowie has to offer, a masterpiece.

She had an horror of rooms she was tired you can't hide beat
When I looked in her eyes they were blue but nobody home
She could've been a killer if she didn't walk the way she do, and she do
She opened strange doors that we'd never close again
She began to wail jealousies scream
Waiting at the light know what I mean

Chorus (twice)
Scary monsters, super creeps
Keep me running, running scared

She asked me to stay and I stole her room
She asked for my love and I gave her a dangerous mind
Now she's stupid in the street and she can't socialise
Well I love the little girl and I'll love her till the day she dies
She wails
Jimmy's guitar sound jealousies scream
Waiting at the light know what I mean
