讃岐

In Japanese history, Sanuki was one of the 68 ancient provinces of Japan. Sanuki, one of four ancient provinces on the island of Shikoku, bordered on Awa and Iyo provinces and comprised the area that is now the modern-day Kagawa Prefecture. The great Buddhist monk Kukai (postumously Kobo Daishi) was born in Sanuki province in 774.
