So, back when Apple was developing the first PowerPC-based Macs, the middle-level motherboard design was codenamed "Sagan". Carl Sagan caught wind of this, and ordered Apple to cease and desist the use of his name. The Apple folks were pretty pissed, and changed the codename to "BHA" - allegedly, "Butthead Astronomer". Again, Sagan threatened Apple. Apple's lawyers caved, and the motherboard's codename was finally changed to "LAW" - "Lawyers Are Wimps".

saga = S = SAIL

sagan /say'gn/ n.

[from Carl Sagan's TV series "Cosmos"; think "billions and billions"] A large quantity of anything. "There's a sagan different ways to tweak EMACS." "The U.S. Government spends sagans on bombs and welfare -- hard to say which is more destructive."
