A Thracian and Phrygian god identified with Dionysos. Also known as Zeus-Sabazius due to his association with storms.

A wild and ancient god of Thrace (allegedly one of the most barbarous places of the ancient world), Sabazius was associated with blood sacrifice (including human) well into classical times.

Portrayed as a rustic in a Phrygian cap, he was associated with dragons.

His symbols include the bull, the serpent, the lizard, corn and the plough.

He later became the focus of a Mystery Religion.
