Richard Allen Moranis

Born in Toronto on April 18, 1953. Apparently a leftie. In the 1970's, he was the afternoon DJ for CHUM-FM in Toronto, and he was the night DJ on CFTR-AM under the pseudonym Rick Allen after that station switched from Beautiful Music to Top 40. He and Dave Thomas created the SCTV skits "The Great White North" in response to CBC requests for Canadian content in programming. Ironically, they were inducted into the Order of Canada for this portrayal of Canadian stereotypes. This skit also resulted in the two creating the hit "Take Off" on the Billboard Top 40 in 1982. In 1991, his wife Anne Moranis died of liver cancer. They had two children together. Currently, he is running his own production company in New York.
