Richard Roe

In legal cases where one male party has already been identified as "John Doe," a second male party needing to have a name attached to him will be called "Richard Roe."

For some reason though, if there's a "Jane Doe" already the second woman will be Jane Roe.

A fictious name for a party, real or fictious, to an act or proceeding. Other names were formerly similarly used, as John-a-Nokes, John o', or of the, Nokes, or Noakes, John-a-Stiles, etc.
