A charming blond actress. Mostly known for the Gabrielle role in Xena, Warrior Princess.


Evelyn Renée O'Connor, was born on February 15, 1971 in Houston, Texas to Sandra Wilson and Walter O'Connor, and grew up in Katy, Texas. The blond, green-eyed girl in the age of 8 began touring with an acting group call "Theatre on Wheels". At age 12 O'Connor studied at The Houston Alley Theater of Acting. Later, she attended Taylor High School, but at age 16 moved to Houston's High School for the Performing Visual Arts.

Her acting career started to flourish at age 17, when she found her first talent manager. She stared in many TV commercials such as McDonald's and Exxon, and was casted to Mickey Mouse Club movies such as Teen Angel and Match Point. Other films and TV roles followed as she appeared in yet another Disney production, The Adventures of Huck Finn, co-starring with Elijah Wood and Jason Robards. She then had a guest appearance on The Rockford Files, which was a career highlight for O'Connor, being a big fan of James Garner. Between these and other roles, she starred in two mythic action films for Renaissance Pictures: Hercules and the Lost Kingdom (1994) and the direct-to-video release of Darkman 2: The Return of Durant (1995).

O'Connor caught the attention of executive producers Rob Tabert and Sam Raimi during the filming of Hercules and the Lost Kingdom. They offered O'Connor an audition for the role of Gabrielle in their new production, Xena, Warrior Princess. From 400 candidates she was picked for the role.

O'Connor is married to Steve Muir, and gave birth to their son on September 22, 2001.
