A processor developed by MIPS (then part of SGI). When debuted, the R10k was the fastest desktop cpu available. Orig in 175Mhz and 195MHz flavors. The R10k can use from 512KB to 8MB of L2 cache. SGI sunk huge resources into this cpu (which was the precursor to the R12k), and at least developed an awesome chip. The R10k was initially used in the Indigo2 and later in the Octane, Origin2000, Origin200, and O2.
