real world', and quite possibly succeeds.
Rising from the base of the Queensland Institute of Technology, QUT has tried to retain the industry oriented core that is its strength. It is well noted for its Engineering, IT and Business faculties.
Its main rival is that dastardly University of Queensland, which attempts to recreate the English university experience in good ol' Oz. They have things like jacaranda trees, latin mottos and plenty of textbook learning, as well as very nice sandstone buildings. QUT suffers a massive inferiority complex because of this.
