A sharpened stick (usually bamboo), concealed in a shallow hole. The pointy end, usually covered in excrement is meant to puncture the unwary enemy soldier, causing them to get an infection. The medical attention required keeps the punctured soldier out of action, along with those who must care for him. If the infection is severe enough, the soldier will die.

Used extensively during the Vietnam War by the Viet Cong.
