The mascot of the primary and secondary school athletic teams of East Liverpool, Ohio. Potter Pete has a kiln for a head, and wears a football uniform. The exact origins of Pete are unknown; but since East Liverpool was and still is a big pottery town, the idea for the mascot is not totally insane.

However, I have been told by current Potter athletes that Potter Pete was named after a perverted old man who washes the Boys' Basketball uniforms. In fact, I have seen this man firsthand and he does appear to be, in any form of the word, a pervert.

It has to be a little disheartening for a team to have an old pervert as a mascot...
