A piece of "music" by plunderphonic composer John Oswald. First released on CD in 1992 on the Avant label, Plexure is a 20-minute sound collage which uses as its source material literally thousands of pop songs from the period 1982 to 1992 (with a few exceptions).

Oswald organized the piece by first sorting these sources according to tempo, with the assistance of his colleague Phil Strong. He then created a "tempo map" which provided the rough narrative arc of the piece, progressing from slower material to faster.

The result is, in my opinion, one of the greatest and most amazing works of audio art ever, albeit quite challenging to listen to...
