Neighborhood plaza in the Tlatelolco neighborhood in Mexico City remembered most for the massacre of student protestors on October 2nd, 1968.

The student movement had been gaining momentum since its start in July, when a fight between the students of two Mexico City schools, a college preparatory school and a nearby vocational school, was broken up by the paramilitary riot police called "granaderos". The "granaderos" stopped the fight but in the process politicized a large portion of the student population in Mexico City.
