The Babinski
Reflex, often classified with the
Palmar Grasp, is an automatic response that
healthy
newborns have when the
sole of their
foot is
stroked from toe towards heel. Their toes fan out and curl inwards. Often you’ll see
doctors testing this reflex in
newborns. If a newborn has a good Babinski Reflex, it is generally a good
indicator that they have a healthy
nervous system.
See Babinski Sign. I’m not sure whether the author of that node and myself are talking about the same thing – but that writeup seems to be referring to a different phenomenon dealing with the same area of the nervous system.
