1927-. A founder of electronic music. In the early 50s, he and Pierre
Schaeffer, experimenting in the studios of French Radio, began
electronically manipulating everyday sounds into pieces of music -
musique concrète. Works include A la recherche..., based on
Marcel Proust, and Le voyage, from the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
Brushes with pop include a 1964 instrumental, "Psyché Rock", that was frequently used as background music - your ears might recognize it.
