Metropolitan area in north-central North Carolina, about 80 miles west of the Research Triangle and 90 miles NNE of Charlotte. Consists of Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point. Interstate 40 runs east-to-west through Greensboro and Winston-Salem; Interstate 85 splits off from I-40 in Greensboro to head southwest by the corner of High Point to Charlotte.
