The brand of Daoism best known in the West (as opposed to Religious or Practical Daoism). Philosophical Daoism is sometimes called Quietism or Contemplative Daoism. It is centered on the teachings of Laozi in the Dao De Jing and of Zhuangzi, as well as the later writing of elite Daoists, including The Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove.
