A lovely village on the south shore of Nova Scotia. Photos of this scenic tourist attraction often feature the picturesque lighthouse sited on the granite shoreline.

Peggy's Cove was in the news in early September, 1998 when Swissair Flight 111 crashed into nearby St. Margaret's Bay. The aircraft was en route from New York to Geneva when it went down carrying 215 passengers and 14 crew members. For days the news featured grisly footage of the makeshift morgue on the shoreline. The cause remains unknown.

Swissair helped to pay for standing stone memorials at nearby Whalesback and Bayswater. Unusually, the monument mentions Swissair by name, unlike those to the victims of the TWA Flight 800 and Valujet crashes.
