A huge ass highway. It stretches from San Diego all the way up to Seattle. It hugs the coasts the entire way, and while driving on it, you can check out the most awesome scenery. And hey, while you're up on the highway, the Silicon Valley is only a short drive off it.

In California it's known as SR-1 (State Route 1), however, before the July 1, 1964 renumbering of all US routes in the state, it used to be Alternate US 101. The name itself however is not maintained throughout the entire route, it ends somewhere around San Luis Obispo and picks up the name Cabrillo Highway.
