Pacific Bell is the Baby Bell that took over California and Nevada after the breakup of AT&T. It is now owned by SBC.

Pacific Bell provided adequate local telephone service to California and Nevada. Their commercials on television for services such as DSL were hilarious. Unfortunately their actual DSL service ranked somewhere between piss-poor and God-awful. Endless horror stories abound concerning such things as delays in service setup and long periods of service interruption (on the order of weeks).

Pacific Bell was later rebranded as "SBC Pacific Bell" and later simply as "SBC." SBC has since acquired AT&T and is now called AT&T, Inc.
