I wish I had whispered it

under my breath:

                        a throw away line

If only I had written a letter

in an envelope, stamped yet

                        never  mailed

If there were no witnesses

                                          He said,  she said

would anyone know?

I wished for a lot of things, but

what I said was Goodbye,

                                               and a bird set free

          flies

I made a wish, I said it out loud,  Out loud in a crowd

Everybody heard,  It was the talk of the town.
