Ostfriesland a geographical area of the
Bundesland Niedersachsen, and in the northwestern most area of
Germany, and borders the
Netherlands to the west. The name Ostfriesland translates into East Frisia, the
Netherlands being Westfriesland, or West Frisia. The towns of Emden, Aurich, and Oldenburg are found in Ostfriesland.
Ostfriesland’s costal planes are riddled with canals, and look little like the mountainous ranges foreigners expect from Germany. The native Dialect of Ostfriesland is
Platt Deutsch.
