All the pictures on the news
floating in my brain
mixing with my thoughts
mixing with the rain
that's tapping on the roof
like the bank man on the door
who will never go away
like that nasty oozing sore
that's always dripping down my back
where the monkey clings to me
there on the account
of my unhappy family
starving on the checks
from my double-shift employment
But wait! This isn't me!
sirens ringing in my head
alarm clocks ringing next my bed
I wake up next to Barbara
safe on Pennsylavania Ave
glad I'm no ordinary man
I'm the son of my dear father
and I hope I'll go much farther
