Operation Dessert Storm is an international month of pieing being carried out from April Fool's Day to May Day 2001. Creative activist groups are planning to throw cream pies in the faces of political and economic leaders around the world.
They believe "revolution is about doing things out of the ordinary, and that it's a great way to humble those with way too much power over the people of the world. The website, at www.dessertstorm.org, has a briefing and will contain video footage and pictures of pieings.
Already in the past two days, both World Bank president James D. Wolfensohn and the premier of Australia, Steve Bracks, have been humbled. There are recipes for different kinds of vegan pies on the website, with tofu as the main ingredient.
To quote their call to action, "Tofu cream must be as global as capital."
