Further translation, the way I was taught:

"Traveller, tell in Sparta that you saw us here where we rest,
abiding by the sacred laws of the homeland."

There are many translations of this enduringly famous epitaph. Here is the original Greek:
ô xein', aggeilon Lakedaimoniois hoti têide
keimetha tois keinôn rhêmasi peithomenoi
Note that the Spartans are referred to by their alternative name, the Lacedaemonians.
